Coco Constant Vomitting 21Nov08

A quick update on coco, video below was taken yesterday (Saturday) at the vet clinic. coco has been very sick last few days, constant vomitting and jessie has to bring her to the vet immediately on Friday. This is what vet said when coco was brought in : 'The kitten was in critical condition due to exhaustion from frequent vomitting. The kitten was more active and alert when I left the clinic but with poor prognosis cause the condition still unstable. We should know by tomorrow, it's fate'
We went very early the next day and the video below shows that the critical condition is over. Goodness!

Broken Hind Leg Dog ( Apple )

Received a call from Chong Kooi neighbor, Tracy and Nick. They are good Samaritans that willing to take this 6 months old female puppy if I am not mistaken. Apple was hit by a motorcyclist few days ago. They brought her to immediately to the first vet nearby their area and nothing much could be done except giving her some pain killer. :(

They went for another one and got the X-ray done and the same answer was given, thats why I received a call since last time we helped out a dog name Lucky and Chong Kooi is his guardian. Link below to help you remember :

*update on Lucky : HE IS MISSING SINCE LAST WEEK!

Back to Apple, she is now at my vet boarding place and surgery will be carried out anytime. I will use some of Alera fund just to help out abit.

Alera Testing Out Vegan Cat Food.

I bought Alera some packets of vegan cat kibbles a while ago and never had a chance to try on him. Yesterday I gave him some and he loved it! Amazing. I got them from Veganessentials online store and the 2 brands are Ami Cat Vegan and Evolution Vegan Cat Food. They are expensive as I need to pay some shipping fees to get them shipped to where I stay in Malaysia. In Malaysia there is no single pack of vege cat food unfortunately.

Alera Urination Problem & Fever 23Sep08

Alera was having difficulty in urinating 2 nights ago. Usually I help him everyday by expressing the bladder but yesterday I couldn't ven squeeze a drop of urine.

Luckily the following morning when I woke up, his bed ( diaper sheet ) was full of urine ( slightly pinkish ).

We went to the vet after that in the afternoon and the doc said he was having infection and mild fever. I hope I am not the one who passed on the fever to him as I was very sick for the last few days, high fever and sore throat. I was given some antibiotic to feed Alera daily and I hope he will be able to get back to normal soon.

*updates 25sep08, 12:50pm* at the time of writing this, he urinated a lot and the whole house start to smell, good for him!

Harinam Gurney Drive 13Sep08

Just thought of sharing, a few Hare Krishna devotees went to Penang Gurney Drive for Harinam Sankirtana ( street chanting the maha mantra ). This was my second time of joining and it was fun! We distributed some prasadam ( vegetarian puri and potatoes ) to public. The first time we went was last year and you can see it HERE. Enjoy and hopefully we will do more Harinam in future in different places such as botanical garden and beach!

Ultrasound Scan 12 Weeks

We went again to hospital last Sunday for check up and scanning. Baby has grown so fast and now we were able to see the form, tiny legs and hands. He/She was dancing and moving around. in Bee Bee's belly. On our next trip we shall bring our video cam as the doc allowed us to take some footage. The scanning machine actually can produce video clips as well but I think it did not hook up to the hard disc or something. Anyway just to share with all :)

Visionless Kitty Going Home.

Just a quick update. I have brought the kitty to the vet 2 days ago and according to the vet, they are not cataracts. Surgery can be performed only 2 months later when the kitty is old enough. I am not sure what it is called however the vet said will only wait till 2 months later. Eye cream and deworming medicine was given too. We will visit the vet 2 weeks later for checkup routine. I have changed the title to vision less kitty instead of cataract ( since it isn't ) as I couldn't think of any other words!

Anyways, the kitty has gone back home today with the guardians ( Nicholas and Jessie ) and above is the photo that I shot this afternoon. Good Samaritans and both of them are vegetarians too! Woo hoo~!

Photos of Cataract Kitten

Took some photos of the cataract kitten. She is adorable and playful too. She is very tiny and if you look at the third photo from top, Ah Black is much much bigger than her :)
Hungry all the time as usual and I have to spoon feed her every 2 hours. She quite used to the spoon instead of syringe or kitty bottles. So far no poop yet! Just some urination. Enjoy the photos.

Fostering Blind Cataract Kitten

A good friend rang me yesterday and asked for my help to take care of his friend rescue kitty for 3 days. His friend rescued this kitty few days ago and he has to go to Kuala Lumpur ( 400 km ) for a short buisness trip. The kitty both eyes has cataract and I hardly see the pupils, both of them are cloudy white. I went to Khairul's place and borrow his spare cage. So far everything going great with the kitty. He drink lots of milk and luckily not meowing alot. He is playful too. Everyone in the house especially the fur kids are curious and anxiuos! I captured the video using my ustream capture utility. Photos will be up soon.

Angel's Hernia Surgery Updates

Phew! The surgery went well! Angel is now back to Stephanie and Callie's place. The vet said there is no need to stay at the clinic. However the vet did say it involved chest cavity and he already fixed it. Mmm...I am not too sure what that means. Anyone who can enlighten me regarding this would be very much appreciated. Furthermore her breathing will be a little shallow because her left lung collapsed due to the surgery and this will go back to normal in days. Photos above were shot by Stephanie.

My Photo On About.Com:Buddhism

One of my photo was used on Buddhism.about.com by a journalist name Barbara O'Brien. I captured the photo a year ago while my mom burnt some fake money during the Hungry Ghost Festival. A year has passed and now at this time, most Chinese are celebrating this festival. By the way, most Chinese are praying and burning fake money and sacrificed lots of pigs and other animals during this time for the dead. Its very sad indeed as Buddhism teaches us Ahimsa which means non-violence and sacrificing innocent animals such as pigs and other lower living entities are just terrible and is not the teaching of Ahimsa

Angel, The 3 Legged Dog

I got to know Angel through Joseph yesterday night. She ended up in SPCA Penang after found on the street. Someone practically 'dump' her there according to the SPCA. Angel has three legs and she is very adorable. Unfortunately she has a problem with hernia nearby his tummy area. Two good Samaritans who happened to be volunteers of the shelter fell in love with her and decided to adopt and foster her in their spacious apartment. I have used some of the Alera's fund to help Angel in her tomorrow hernia surgery.

Angel will be going to the vet recommended by SPCA and I am not allowed to go in there with video cam, arrr!. We just have to hope for the best. The good Samaritans also happened to be mother and daughter, Callie and Stephanie. They have a kind soul indeed as taking care of disable animals is a life time commitment. They have another dog named Princess. Hopefully Angel will be fine tomorrow. By the way Angel was a chosen name by Callie and Stephanie. Her shelter name is Charity.

Ultrasound Scan 7 Weeks

Two days ago, Bee Bee and I went to one of our local vegetarian hospital ( Adventist Hospital Penang) for an ultrasound scan around her fetus area for pregnancy test. We bought a test kit few days before that and we just wanna be sure. Finally, Bee Bee is pregnant! And I am going to be a father soon. This is so exciting and the photo above is the result of the scan. The red circle area is our little baby around 7 weeks according the doc. The gynecologist told us is still early to see the actual form of baby and we have to go back to the hospital another 2 weeks time. Bee Bee was given some folic acid supplement in tablet form.

Apart from that, the doc told us about how cats' poop could harm to pregnant mothers. It is because they step in and out the potty tray and they might sit all over your seat, bead and couch, this will transmit the germs and bacteria to pregnant mothers. Mmm....does this make any sense I wonder.

Alera At Polo Ground

Its so warm over here in Malaysia for the pass few weeks and today it's Sunday! Sunday means outdoor for the kids! And today is Alera's turn to go out to the field. He wasn't comfortable with all the noise and nature and he was scratching me when I tried to leave him on ground! Oh well, not really scratching, more like 'grabbing' my arms like he was yelling 'Daddy! DON'T LEAVE MEEEEEEeeeeeee!'. LOL

He made a lot of noise and constantly scootered back to the carrier. It was so funny and I have to lift him up and placed him far away from the carrier in order for him to walk towards us. We didn't spend a lot of time there as we did not want him to feel stress and he was panting quite heavily. Next week will be Papi's turn! Enjoy the photos and video ( shot by Bee Bee )

Lulu Has White Discharge During Urination.

Brought lulu to the vet yesterday as she was having some milky white discharge while urination. Nowadays she will no longer hold her urine and will leak bit by bit. The vet has taken some blood samples and also performed ultrasound scanning around the bladder. He found out there has been some infection going on and Lulu is now on antibiotic called Bayrocin 50mg and Rimadyl pain relieve twice daily for her joint pain. I was told to give lulu cranberries relief powder as well during feeding time. Hopefully the blood result will come out great.

Bobo At Polo Ground

We had a great time yesterday with Bobo at Polo Ground. Even though Bobo is blind, he still enjoys outdoor activities. He chewed grass, running, sniffing around and most all, exploring the outdoor. Before he was blind 3 years ago, we used to go hiking and camping on the hill together with Lulu. It was so much fun at that time. He has been with us for more than 10 years now. By the way the blindness is due to the failure of both cataract surgeries. That's why we have to put leash on him as a guide. We would love to bring all our kids to the field but it is not possible, that is why we have to take one each week :)
Enjoy the pictures.

The 2 video clips below and a photo was taken with a very low res digital camera many many years ago, showing the hillside where we camped with friends, Bee Bee, Bobo and Lulu.

Lulu At Polo Ground

We brought lulu to polo ground yesterday. She has been with us for eleven years. We met her from local shelter. Even though she is suffering from joint pain and arthritis especially on her both hind legs ( 3 years ago ), these doesn't stop her from having fun on the field. Of course she doesn't move and run like she used to be, but that doesn't matter, the most important thing is she has enjoyed every bit of it yesterday :)

Below is the video that I captured yesterday, enjoy.

ps : Adi Kartri has donated RM200 for the Alera Fund. Thank You so much!

Barbara Janssen's Shelter In Penang

Photo on the left is Barbara Janssen and she is from Germany. She has turned her house into a home shelter. The shelter has been running since August 2006 and we just found out lately from our local newspaper. The girl beside Barbara on the background is Sue, a volunteer in our local shelter.
Barbara has been rescuing homeless, injured and abandoned dogs whenever they came across her path. She feed rats and birds too! Isn't that wonderful! Throughout her rescue, many have been adopted and for those who are not lucky to find good homes, they are sure lucky enough to stay with Barbara for as long as they live. Barbara named each and everyone of them and treat them with much love! They are free to roam and sleep anywhere in the compound of the house. She has a helper name Sammy who help her walk the elder dogs once a week :)
We admire greatly for her work.

Bobo Is On Diuretic

Direct Link : Vimeo Here and Youtube Here

Brought Bobo to the vet this afternoon as he was weak and no energy to move this morning. No appetite to eat either. He is now on Furosemide medicine which need to take twice a day in addition to the previous medication. The vet also did a scan on his abdomen to see whether there was fluid at the organs and kidney area. Luckily there was no fluid accumulating which is a good thing. If there was fluid accumulating, meaning the heart is weak and not function properly. At the time of writing this, he is sleeping and not moving much. He also urinated just now and it was expected due to the diuretic treatment.

Attached were some blood test report, x-ray the other day and the previous vet bills. The Creatine Kinase (CK) is very high, 280 U/L. Normal range for dogs is between 36-155.

Direct Link : Vimeo Here and Youtube Here

Bobo has been with us for almost 10 years now and suddenly he has been very weak yesterday. He is also blind as the cataract surgery failed 2 years ago.

According to the vet he has a weak heart and this has made his lungs partially full with fluid and air intake has become difficult. He is now on medication and blood test report will only come out tomorrow. No more staircase and vigorous activities for him from now onwards and plenty of rest.

Also lower sodium food and fresh food is recommended. He has been on vegetarian diet formula for 3 years now.

Below is a short video that I would to share, it was taken year 2000.
